Bar Tape

By Harry Brewer

A piece of joyful and inventive storytelling that explores growing up in a rural town, family, and the joy of riding a bike.

Bar Tape explores the formative years of Davidson - a young,

enthusiastic cyclist growing up in early 1980s rural Britain, now

reflected upon by his older self. Through a variety of spoken word

storytelling techniques, original live music, and

transformative light, the play traces Davidson’s journey of

navigating the big dreams of youth, social expectations, and his

relationships with his girlfriend and grandad. As the pressure of

success builds, he finds himself caught like a rabbit in the

headlights, unsure of which path to take. The play asks how paths are formed - sometimes deliberately, sometimes by habit - and how we live

with the choices that follow.

A piece of joyful and inventive storytelling that explores growing up in a rural town, family, and the joy of riding a bike.
